Arctic Norway and Lofoten Islands
With the Northern Lights in winter and the Midnight Sun in summer this delightful region is our most popular destination at any time of year. The 'Northern Lights Holidays' section of our website features a variety of winter holiday options from Tromso breaks through to our 'Land of the Northern Lights' Tour. Our two-centre 'Tromso and Lofoten' break is detailed below - and an extended version of this is offered over New Year, including a superg Viking Banquet on New Year's Eve in a re-constructed Viking longhouse.
Tailor-made holidays are, of course, available year-round to explore this lovely area.

Tromso and Lofoten Breaks
Our 4-night winter package starts in Tromsø, with a day to enjoy the city before boarding the overnight southbound Coastal Voyage (Hurtigruten). The next day is spent sailing through spectacular scenery en route to Svolvaer. You then have two nights in the beautiful Lofoten Islands, with various excursion possibilities, including a 'Lofoten Winter Panorama' trip by mini-bus and an 'Arctic Winter Night' excursion in search of Northern Lights. On Saturdays there is a Nature Safari by boat, on which you will doubtless see sea-eagles, and although orcas have been elusive in the the last couple of years there is always a possibility! Extra nights can of course be added in either location.
The picturesque fishing villages of Lofoten really come alive in February with the start of the cod-fishing season, while for a really special New Year celebration an extended version of this tour includes a Viking Banquet in a re-constructed Viking longhouse.
