Whale Watching and Lofoten Islands

Whale Watching in Norway
Whale-watching trips are possible from Tromso in summer, but it is winter that now offers the more exciting option. In late autumn killer whales follow the huge shoals of Atlantic herring north past the Lofoten Islands and into the Tysfjord. We offer a choice of tours, either staying in Tysfjord itself for 3 nights, with two whale safaris included, or enjoying a whale safari from the Lofoten Islands on a varied package that includes Tromso and a scenic sector of the Norwegian Coastal Voyage (Hurtigruten).

Killer Whale Safaris in Tysfjord
Two whale safaris are included in our 3-night break at Tysfjord Turistsenter, one of which can be in an inflatable boat, if you wish. It is also possible to snorkel with the whales. Holidays combining Tysfjord with Sweden's famous Ice Hotel are also possible.

Lofoten, Killer Whales and Tromsø
This 4-night winter package starts in Tromsø, with a day to enjoy the city before boarding the overnight southbound Coastal Voyage. The next day is spent enjoying the spectacular scenery as you sail to Svolvaer. You then have two nights in the beautiful Lofoten Islands, with the option of a full-day killer-whale safari.
A wonderfully varied holiday!
Whilst the killer-whales depart Lofoten about mid-January, the holiday can be taken throughout the winter/spring to enjoy the nature and culture of Lofoten, a variety of other winter activities, and the world-famous cod-fishing season which gats under way in February.
