Spitsbergen
Just a few hundred miles from the North Pole, Spitsbergen is the largest island in the Svalbard archipelago, and home to the reindeer, Arctic fox, seal, walrus and, of course, the polar bear. Cruising close inshore on a small ship offers the best opportunity of viewing the wildlife, with frequent trips ashore in dinghies to explore the history and nature of this amazing region.
